Jay de la Peña, BA, CSCS, FRCms

Jay has worked in the health & fitness industry for over 16 years.  His career began with a brief stint in the field of physical therapy which he then transitioned over to a career in personal training.  He trained for over a decade at a private gym where he gained the valuable experience working with people of a various ages and abilities.  In 2010, Jay’s desire to continually learn and improve his craft, as well as the drive to help others reach their health and fitness goals led to the birth of Seattle Strength & Performance.

When he’s not at the gym, you can find Jay with his wife and three children, oftentimes at a wrestling meet or school function. Jay holds a degree in Exercise Science from Western Washington University and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach through the National Strength & Conditioning Association as well as a Certified Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist.

Ana Gonzalez, NASM-CPT

Ana’s own interests and hobbies led her to pursue a career in personal training; first as a casual runner, turned marathoner and later as a triathlete. These activities inadvertently led Ana to the field of strength and conditioning which helped her on and off the field. As a personal trainer Ana wants to share her passion for fitness to motivate, educate and inspire others to meet their own personal goals.

Living in the PNW Ana will find any excuse to get her to the outdoors, when not in the gym you can bet that she is either out on a bike ride, trail run, hiking, stand-up paddling…the list goes on! 

Meg Clark, CPT, USAW, USAT

Meg has always been active, and became a personal trainer after working in an office for several years and realizing that she was not meant to sit at a desk all day! From the day she started personal training, Meg knew she had found the right path. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her clients learn something new and accomplish what they set out to do.

Meg played volleyball for 14 years and has competed in triathlon for the last 5, so she knows how important it is to have coaches and teammates around to keep you on track and motivated. Whether you want to learn to deadlift or complete a triathlon for the first time, Meg will hold you accountable and help you reach your goals! She loves to make people work hard, but also loves having fun at the gym, so expect to do both!

Meg is a certified personal trainer through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, a USA Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach, and a level 1 Certified USA Triathlon Coach.

Roland Funtanilla, RKC

Roland trained for numerous marathons as a client of SSP setting personal bests while improving his mobility, flexibility, strength & endurance.  It was his success that drove him to pursue coaching to help others achieve what he had experienced.  Roland truly is a “people-person” and that, along with his desire to help others succeed has been the perfect fit.
In his free time he enjoys playing volleyball, is an active runner and loves snowboarding.


Chase Valdez, NASM-CPT

In 2012 Chase started competing in jiu jitsu and realized that he could help others find passion for sport and competition also. Turning to personal training allowed him to continue to be extremely active but also teach people new skills and have fun! With his background in martial arts, Chase takes his competitive nature and channels it by helping his clients get STRONG in the gym!

Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a Member of Team SSP since 2011.
